SIXTH ANNUAL SPRA NETWORKING & CAREER DAY IS THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH!!!
SPRA OFFERS COMMUNICATION STUDENTS A DAY OF NETWORKING WITH PUBLIC RELATIONS PROFESSIONALS
We would like to highly encourage all SPRA members to pass along the event information and application to any of your past and present interns so that they can take advantage of this valuable learning opportunity.
WHAT: On Thursday, November 19, 2009, the Sacramento Public Relations Association (SPRA) will host its Sixth Annual Networking and Career Day. SPRA offers qualified college juniors and seniors who are enrolled in majors related to marketing, public relations, journalism, or communication studies at the California State University, Sacramento and the University of California, Davis the opportunity to spend the day touring some of Sacramento’s leading public relations agencies and media outlets.
In addition to the tours and firsthand experiences shared by PR and media professionals, participants will attend an SPRA luncheon covering the topic career opportunities and effective job searching in today’s economy. At the luncheon, participants will also have the opportunity to network with some of Sacramento’s most prominent public relations professionals and potential future employers. Students are encouraged to network and learn more about available internships and job openings (and encouraged to bring resumes).
WHO: Participant Requirements:
- Juniors and seniors majoring in Public Relations/Communication or related fields who are seriously interested in exploring a career in public relations and are in good academic standing.
- Completed applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. (Students will be notified on Friday, November 6th if you are selected to participate).
WHERE: Sacramento tour locations will be assigned after all applications have been submitted. The SPRA luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Sofia restaurant in Downtown Sacramento. Students will be responsible for transportation, any necessary parking costs and the cost of the luncheon: $15.00
WHEN: Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
WHY: The SPRA Networking and Career Day is designed to give students who are interested in a career in public relations insight into the field, as well as the opportunity to meet potential employers.
