CNBC Internships - Summer Applications Available

CNBC, the world’s leading business news channel, is offering unpaid internships in its Los Angeles Bureau.  The program is available to qualified students interested in broadcast journalism.  Interns obtain hands-on experience and exposure to network news, production, business and entertainment.  They learn basic operations in a busy newsroom and develop skills working closely with producers, reporters, editors and photographers.  Interns are required to work a minimum of two days a week, 8am to 4pm.  Applicants must be able to receive academic credit for their experience and be a current college or graduate student.  Interns work in Universal City, California, and are provided free parking on the premises. Summer internship spaces fill quickly, so interested students are encouraged to apply early.  No applications will be accepted after May 9th.  To obtain an application and more details, send a written request with your complete name and mailing address to either the mailing address or e-mail address listed below.  Internships are offered in the summer, fall and spring terms.

Sacramento Superior Court Judicial Intership

The Sacramento Superior Court Judicial Internship is a unique program designed to give Sacramento State students the opportunity to experience the internal organization of the California court system.  The program will select a limited number of highly motivated undergraduate students in any major to participate in an internship program conducted by Sacramento Superior Court judges.  Judicial interns are assigned to a mentor judge who introduces them to numerous aspects of the judicial process by observing trials, in-chamber meetings, and other legal proceedings.  Through discussion with their mentor judges, interns gain critical insights into the adversarial system and are exposed to differing jurisprudential perspectives.

A long-established program in the California State University system, the internship was inspired by Justice Norman L. Epstein who served as legal counsel, vice-chancellor and general counsel for CSU.  A respected legal scholar and judge for more than 30 years in both the trial and appellate level, Justice Epstein has a strong commitment to education and to encouraging CSU students from diverse and challenged backgrounds to pursue legal careers.

Who is eligible? To be eligible for selection, you must satisfy all of the following criteria:

  • Junior or senior status during academic year 2008-09.
  • While participating in the program, you must be enrolled in CrJ 195, supervised by Dr. Laurie Kubicek.
  • Plan to attend law school soon after graduation from Sacramento State.
  • Be able to spend 8-10 hours per week at Sacramento Superior Court.
  • Participate in two consecutive academic semesters.
  • Be available during the initial semester of selection to interview with a judge and attend an orientation (dates to be determined).
