The largest traffic redirection and freeway repair project in Sacramento history is here. Anyone who lives, works or visits Sacramento will be affected. It is called the “Fix I-5” project and public relations professionals at Caltrans have a giant task at hand.

That’s why the Sacramento Public Relations Association is bringing Mark Dinger of Caltrans and his team to discuss the communications plan for a project with enormous impact on the region and its residents. Mr. Dinger will be joined by Caltrans’ community outreach team Anne Staines and Katie Carlson of ProProse Social Marketing Solutions and Velma Lucero-Garcia of HDR/The Hoyt Company.

Mr. Dinger brings 17 years of experience in reporting news, traffic and sports radio and television for Northern California and Arizona. In addition, several outreach public relations providers who helped to keep the “Fix I-5” project in scope will join the presentation.

During this luncheon, SPRA will also announce 2008’s “Future Leaders in Communication” scholarship award recipient. The “Future Leaders in Communication” scholarship program awards one student in his or her pursuit of outstanding academic achievement with the career goal to practice in the field of public relations.
